Three separate venues moved on the interconnection queue in the same week. MISO approved a dedicated expedited track for gigawatt-scale loads and their co-located generation, pulling them out of the standard queue entirely. New Mexico's PRC launched a large-load tariff working group with one filing already in hand and two more expected, setting cost allocation precedent for the Western interconnect. And Senator Heinrich introduced S. 5008, the Grid Connection and Congestion Management Act, which would require every RTO to offer ERCOT-style connect-and-manage interconnection in exchange for curtailment-on-request.
None of these is a coincidence. The standard queue has become the binding constraint on data center growth, and the venues that redesign it fastest are where capacity will actually clear.
MISO is also pressing ahead with its zero-injection generation agreement framework after a month's delay, largely intact despite stakeholder pushback. Together with the dedicated large-load queue, that is the full interconnection architecture for behind-the-meter data center campuses in MISO taking shape in real time.
